The eastern side of Montalcino, San Filippo is the Brunello winery founded in the 1970s by Roberto Giannelli around a wonderful structure steeped in history, which dates back to the seventeenth century. The vineyards, with mainly north-eastern exposures, are on the typical soils of Eocene origin, with medium-clayey areas mixed with marl and limestone areas.
In the vineyard, with a sustainability focus, the philosophy is that of the analytical selection of the grapes. In the cellar the approach is moderately modernist, with ageing that takes place partially in small barrels. For the rest, the style of Brunello di San Filippo is essential and traditional.
The color is ruby red with a slight tendency to garnet. The nose is intense and complex, spicy, with dominant notes of morello cherry. The olfactory phase continues on the palate. The taste is full, harmonious, and persistent, with dense and silky tannins.
